Obama"scare"!!!

April 6, 2010

Dr. Allen Dobzyniak is a retired physician. He has been my personal physician for many years and is one of the wisest and best physicians I have ever had. He has taken a hard look at Obamacare. I am not going to put up all of his findings but you can go to this link and find them there.

C:\Users\Russ\Documents\A docs view of obamacare, 4-2-10.htm

I would like to put up a little bit of the information about the changes that will be coming to your Medicare and mine in the near future. Just read these and shutter at what is going on with Obamacare... It’s a scam...

2009: Medicare cuts to hospitals (long - term care (7-01-09) and inpatient rehabilitation facilities (FY 10)

2010: Medicare cuts to inpatient psych hospitals

2011: Medicare Advantage cuts begin
Medicare cuts to home health begin
Wealthier seniors (85k/170k) begin paying higher Part D premiums.
Medicare reimbursement cuts when seniors use diagnostic imaging like MRI, CT scan, etc.
Medicare cuts to ambulance services, ambulatory surgery centers, diagnostic labs, durable medical equipment
Prohibition on Medicare payments to new physician - owned hospitals
Seniors prohibited from purchasing power wheelchairs unless they first rent for 13 months
More cuts to long - term care hospitals
Medicare cuts to hospitals. Nursing homes and inpatient rehabilitation facilities

2012: Medicare cuts for dialysis treatment
Medicare plans to reduce spending by using an HMO - like coordinated care model
More Medicare cuts to inpatient psych hospitals
Medicare cuts to hospitals with high readmission rates
Medicare cuts to hospice begins

2013: Increase from 7.5% to 10% threshold at which medical expenses, as a % of income, can be deductible
Impose 2.3% excise tax on medical devices
Medicare cuts to hospitals who treat low income seniors begin

2014: More Medicare cuts to home health
Government board (IPAB) begins submitting proposals to cut Medicare
Medicare payment cuts for hospital acquired infection begin

2015: More Medicare cuts to home health

2017: Physician pay for quality program begins for all physicians

I have attempted to create an objective analysis of many of the direct and indirect consequences of the new health care law. Add to this the recent Gallop Poll of physicians that concludes 26% of health care spending is a result of defensive medicine. No significant med - mal reform is included in this law.
The law does provide for rationing of health care especially to seniors. Further conclusions are possible: free health care for illegal immigrants, publicly subsidized abortion and forced participation in abortions by physicians. The law will also eventually force private insurance companies out of business with everyone eventually in a government run system, except our legislators, of course, who are exempted. All decisions about personal health care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats. Hospital admissions, payments to physicians and allocation of necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled by the government. This is the most massive transfer of power and compromise of personal freedom to the federal government that has ever occurred.

education

This Week...

April 12, 2010

So you say that you like to support education! Good for you. I’m going to give you a chance to see something terrific. I don’t know if you know about the kids over at Dearborn High, Edsel High, and Fordson High who attend the video production program over at Dearborn High under the direction of Kurt Doelle, but they are going to have a special showing of "Internal Affairs", "Stealing Graduation", and "True Story: a short animation" for two days at the Guido Theatre this coming Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $5.00.

You’re going to be amazed. You’re going to say, “…kids can’t do that!” First of all the studio that they have is incredible. It’s developed thanks to a 2 million dollar donation by Michael Berry and some other citizens who have knocked themselves out to give our kids the very best production studio in the country. And of course the productions that they do are amazing. They look just like Hollywood productions.

So… the show goes on at seven and you can get tickets at the door. Take your family to see this. It will be worth your while. The kids in the video production are youngsters. They are only fifteen, sixteen, and seventeen years old and they produce productions that will knock your socks off.

So check it out. There are three productions that they have done. They have a big screen there and they have it in full color and sound. I think that you are really going to like what is going down at WDHS Video. You can find out more at www.wdhsvideo.org.

Alberta and I will be there and we are inviting some of our friends. We hope that you will come and see this show too.

Come on you are big supporters of the school. You support football, basketball, and soccer. Please, come out and support the arts.

Polish Magic

April 23, 2010

Growing old isn’t for sissies but, every once and a while there is a story that warms the old heart.

I was working out at the Dearborn Racquet and Health Club pool the other day and there was a senior citizen lady floating around on her noodle. Now, a noodle is a rubber water wing device that you use in the pool. So, she was paddling around in the pool while I was doing my thing. All of a sudden an elderly gentleman, who looked liked Adolf Menjou with a little tiny mustache, says, “Ahhhh, hello good-looking!” She smiled. And before long, as I paddled past them, I heard her say to him, “would you like to come over for dinner?” And he said, “Oh yes I would and I’ll bring the kielbasa.” And she looked at him and said, “Oh, but I don’t have any mustard.” He said, “Don’t worry. I’ll bring the mustard too!” And with that, she hopped off of her noodle and they paddled off to the side of the pool. He hopped out and jumped into the hot tub and she went in gracefully after. So, there they were. The two love birds splashing away in the hot tub.

See what a little kielbasa can do!
