Thank you

February 21, 2010

Obama and his Democratic pals, with a little help from the Bush boys, deserve a thank you." For the biggest generational transfer of wealth in the history of the world. If you’re an 18-year old middle-class hopey-changer, look at the way your parents and grandparents live: It’s not going to be like that for you. You’re going to have a smaller house, and a smaller car — if not a basement flat and a bus ticket. You didn’t get us into this catastrophe. But you’re going to be stuck with the tab, just like the Germans got stuck with paying reparations for the catastrophe of the First World War. True, the Germans were actually in the war, whereas in the current crisis you guys were just goofing around at school, dozing through Diversity Studies and hoping to ace Anger Management class. But tough. That’s the way it goes." J. W. Williams

"President Obama, who pledged to establish the most open and transparent administration in history, on Monday surpasses his predecessor's record for avoiding a full-fledged question-and-answer session{215 days} with White House reporters in a formal press conference." Washington Times

Russ, today I was listening to National Public Radio. Three political 'authorities' were discussing Obama's 'Chicago-style' politics, and the Republican decrying such force-it-down-your-throat tactics. The amazing part was that there was no sense of self-awareness on their part. They weren't seeing their hypocrisy on the subject. Since they like Obama and approve of his goals, they said things such as: "That is how things get done in Washington" and "Nobody is going to remember HOW the healthcare bill was passed, just that it WAS passed."

These are the same words that came out of Republican mouths when Bush and Cheney were running Washington. Those same left-leaning/liberal ladies were denouncing those attitudes at that time. I am sure someone can point out similar hypocrisy for Republicans, but I was simply amazed how perfectly acceptable rough-and-tumble politics were to these liberal commentators when they approve of the goal.
