Senator Ted Kennedy Betrays Women by Not Standing for Hillary Clinton for President;
Ultimate Betrayal Felt by Women Everywhere. NOW
ALBANY, NY -- January 28 -- Women have just experienced the ultimate betrayal. Senator Kennedy's endorsement of Hillary Clinton's opponent in the Democratic presidential primary campaign has really hit women hard. Women have forgiven Kennedy, stuck up for him, stood by him, hushed the fact that he was late in his support of Title IX, the ERA, the Family Leave and Medical Act to name a few. Women have buried their anger that his support for the compromises in No Child Left Behind and the Medicare bogus drug benefit brought us the passage of these flawed bills. We have thanked him for his ardent support of many civil rights bills, BUT women are always waiting in the wings.
And now the greatest betrayal! We are repaid with his abandonment! He's picked the new guy over us. He's joined the list of progressive white men who can't or won't handle the prospect of a woman president who is Hillary Clinton (they will of course say they support a woman president, just not "this" one). "They" are Howard Dean and Jim Dean (Yup! That's Howard's brother) who run DFA (that's the group and list from the Dean campaign that we women helped start and grow). They are Alternet, Progressive Democrats of America, democrats.com, Kucinich lovers and all the other groups that take women's money, say they'll do feminist and women's rights issues one of these days, and conveniently forget to mention women and children when they talk about poverty or human needs or America's future or whatever.
This latest move by Kennedy, is so telling about the status of and respect for women's rights, women's voices, women's equality, women's authority and our ability - indeed, our obligation - to promote and earn and deserve and elect, unabashedly, a President that is the first woman after centuries of men who "know what's best for us."

Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy has always has "abandoned" women. Perfect liberal. Talks the talk, but won't walk the walk.

Remember this ? Democrat Kennedy has always abandoned women.
Mary Jo Kopechne (July 26, 1940 – July 18, 1969) was an American teacher, secretary and administrator, notable for her death in a car accident on Chappaquiddick Island in a car driven by Senator Ted Kennedy.

Sorry, Lori. It's the truth from the NY National Organisation of Women press release. NOW

Democrat Kennedy "abandoned" women long ago. Even when his "date" Mary Jo Kopechne was drowning.

I find it odd how NOW is getting so huffed up over a female candidate who's trying to ride her hudbands coat-tails into a job. She wouldn't be where she is today politically without her husband. Not exactly a postergirl for feminism, IMHO.

So what is the deal, does the leadership of NOW think women are too stupid to make up their own minds without a Kennedy (a guy who basically murdered one of their own at Chappaquiddick) telling them what to do? Why in the hell would NOW give damn what a Kennedy thinks? Are they a bunch of mindless drones that just do what MR KENNEDY tells them to do?
How repugnant and ignorant of the NOW leadership! How more fitting an indictment of their own weak and politically motivated, misguided, 60's relic, leadership to assume that their members are not sophisticated enough to make their own mind up regardless of what MR. Chappaquiddick says or who HE endorses.

So, Mr big time millionaire Democrat, Ted Kennedy SCREWS the National Organization of Women. {NOW}..
When you look at the history of the Kennedy clan and their treatment of women, PLEASE, tell me whats new?

Know whats really sad about this Kennedy endorsement? Is that Obama and the rich white democrats pulling his puppet strings, thinks he got something worthwhile.
--by on 1/29/08 Lives: Detroit area
Since when is Ted Kennedy obliged to support any woman who runs for president, just because she IS a woman? It seems like NOW would want him to pick the candidate he thinks is best, and not give preferential treatment to one just because she's a woman.

LOL. The Democratic party has been based on coalitions, black, gays and women etc. It's now coming apart at the seams. LOL
--by on 1/29/08 Lives: Detroit area
The only person more reprehensible and detrimental to the American political system than Ted Kennedy is Hillary Clinton. You can take them both and flush them down the toilet of history. The fact that they are identified as the bastions of liberalism shows the inadequacies of the cause.

Well folks. I think it's time to cool down and lighten up, read James Thurber's book ,The Thurber Carnival and his cartoons on the War Between Men and Women.
Hey, The guy wrote before NOW was founded. So give him a break .

When I first saw this headline -- I thought it was a huge joke.
First of all why do we need ANY political people, ANY talk show hosts or the AFT "telling US who to vote for"??
Oprah says we should vote for obaca (who cares how to spell it).
Ted ("I cant drive...") Kennedy says to vote for obaca.
The AFT says to vote for Hitler Clinton.
WHO CARES who THEY "endorse"???
Are WE so mindless, that we can not THINK for ourselves as to who WE vote for??
Secondly, "The Ultimate Betrayal" -- wasn't that when Billy Bob Clinton BETRAYED his wife in the oval office with Monica, AND then lied to US about it -- oops I didnt know THAT was sexual relations????
Thirdly,
You dont endorse Clinton -- you "betray" NOW!!
You dont enodrse obaca -- you "betray" NAACP and other culture groups!!
You cant seem to win!!
AND BESIDES, I cant seem to grasp why ANYONE from Michigan would vote for a Democrat since they all (ok minus Clinton and that other guy -- what's his name again??) skipped Michigan's primary party.
Im endorsing someone from the Republican Party!!!

I wish people would refrain from using swear words. It does not add any gravity or purpose to your statement, but rather detracts from what might otherwise be a good reminder or insightful comment.
Thanks.

Ted Kennedy's not betraying women. Mr. Obama is much more a woman than Hillary could ever hope to be, and this is NOT a slam on Mr. Obama.

Who used swear words Nina.
Afterall, the title of this post did have the word Kennedy in it???
--by on 1/30/08 Lives: Detroit area
Blue Parrot, you are funny! But People who remember Chappaquiddick did swear. Otherwise I tend to think the whole "problem" should be a non-issue. Why would I vote for a woman over a man if the man is better? I think the fact that people are so worried about this shows how slow we are to mature politically. The assumption that we vote according to race, gender or religion may be true, but if we vote that way without regard to the quality of the candidate, we are making a big mistake. I think Ted Kennedy can endorse whomever he wants, and I am sure he knows the Clintons well enough to know what he is doing, but Bingham may have hit on a point: Does anybody care anymore? And as far as Caroline Kennedy S. goes, I think the same issue faces her. She has diligently stayed out of politics, and this may be too little too late from her. I am sad that we have only four candidates, I am sad that people like Mike Gravel, though I don't agree with him, cannot be part of debates, I wish we had a more open and democratic system, but politics is politics, and money wins over ideas. I liked Brownback, so obviously, I may be in a minority:)

Wow, the poster is obviously a complete Clinton ideologue and a radical lfetist, which means a lot coming from me (Russ can attest to my liberal-ness). The poster makes the assertion that any democrat supporting Obama is somehow betraying women everywhere. What about politicians who support Romney or McCain? A lot of women feel pro-life is pro-women's rights. Are they betraying their own kin? As for me personally, I think anyone who claims that voting against Clinton equivocates to voting against women's rights is just as stupid as someone who claims that being against the War in Iraq means you somehow want the downfall of Western Civilization. Clinton may be a woman, but it may surprise the poster that male candidates can be just as concerned about the health and well being of women as female candidates.

In the early years of the Clinton White House, Rush Limbaugh and his ilk made much of the 'pushy' Hillary Clinton, and how improper it was for Bill to have said "if you elect me, you get two-for-one", meaning that Hillary's brains and energy would also be put to work. At that time, the joke was that Hillary really propelled Bill to the White House. Now, we have people saying that Hillary is only riding Bill's coattails. I used to (rarely) listen to Limbaugh and wait for how he was going to blame Hillary Clinton for everything. He always found a way, even though she was 'only' the President's wife. To him, she influenced everything that happened. Now that she is running for President herself, Limbaugh disparages her as having done nothing herself. Well, you can't have it both ways. If he was right then, he is wrong now. I urge everyone to be a little more self-aware than Rush Limbaugh seems to be.

I listen to Rush Limbaugh each and every day, listen to ONLY Fox News rather than the Liberal News Network (CNN or any other news agency in the US).
As far as Mrs Clinton (I mean Hillary, not Billybob) she has ridden her hubby's coat-tails WAY to much - its the ONLY way she won in NewYork, its the ONLY way she has a CHANCE to win in USA.
People used to complain about how Nancy Reagan influenced the late (GREATEST President of my lifetime) Ronald Reagan. For crying out loud Billybob was JUST a muppet with Hillary pulling the hands, and Monica's hand up ....
well we will keep this a family show...
The BillyBob / Hitler Hillary days were all about getting the feds to take over the "failing" health care industry -- look how far they got with that back then?
Hillary's recent "sobbing" video cracks me up. How can ANYONE (male or female or "other") run for the highest office in this country, and honestly use a "sobbing" gimmick to win votes.
Makes me wonder what Hillary would have done on 09-11-2001. She would have sat back and cried and said "Everyone stop picking on me!!!! - boo hoo hoo"
Give me a break!!!
My message to the Clintons -- go back to where ever you come from (New York or Arkansas or wherever) and stay out of politics. Send BillyBob back to school so he can learn what "Sexual relationships" is and isnt.

Parrot,
We all see you hate Hillary. That is certainly your right. However, didn't you just make the point someone else said? You rant that Hillary only rode her husband's coat-tails, but then you say that Bill was the puppet and Hillary ran the White House. Which is it? You can't have both.
