A Fordson win.

October 13, 2007

Russ
I am writing in response to all of the rumors and attacks on Fordson High School after the Fordson/Dearborn High game. Someone decided to post a message on your website trashing Fordson fans, players and coaches.
Many people who attended this game said that many of these accusations were false and baseless. Fordson fans were excited, they cheered, yelled , blew horns and whistles for their team. The electricity on the Fordson side was unbelievable.
The principle from Fordson and his assistants, over 20 Fordson teachers and several alumni members lined the stands and the fence controlling the crowd. Fordson's head coach is a man of integrity and class, he is an excellent role model for our children. We are honored to have him in charge of our football team.
We at Fordson have a lot of pride in our school. People who graduated from Fordson 30 and 40 years ago are still involved in the school, have an excellent opinion of our students. They attend every game and event at our school.
The students who walk the halls of Fordson are hardworking, kind and ambitious young adults who have a great future ahead of them.
It's a shame that people who don't know them and probably have never been to our school are trying to trash their reputations. No matter what people say about us or what they decide to post on your website or anywhere else, everyone should know that the tractor spirit is rock solid. No one can break it no matter what.
Congratulations to the Fordson Tractors on a great win!

Maha;

Many people, conversely, said the allegations were true as well, as did several submitted video examples, the Superintendent, the School Board and, yes, the Fordson administration. Despite your rambling to the contrary, your message is lost in your inability to face some very simple realities.

In addition to your overlooking the obvious and dozens of first hand witnesses, you are overlooking the saddest part of this entire incident Mrs. Mustafa.

Fordson won the game but in its inability to behave like civilized football fans, they instead lost control and in doing so lost the regard and respect of an entire community who were all there watching them as well. The ones who were not had to listen to our school board admonish them for their behavior.

It’s a shame that you, and so many others who want to make this a referendum on race or geography and not take a good hard look at why all the fuss. This is why nothing will ever get better at FHS for those kids who should expect a quality education and good roll models. No one will step back and accept responsibility for what FHS has come to stand for in the community. A failing school where there is no discipline. Congratulations Mrs. Mustapha, you’re all the talk of the town.

What a shame to see FHS... and all of you just standing by acting like its not happening.

To: NOTHING IS WORSE THAN WASTED TALENT

Nowhere in my comments did I refer to race or geography. " A failing school where there is no discipline." You obviously don't know what you're talking about.

Ms. Mustafa,

I would place more credence in what you have posted if you had done spell check on your paragraph prior to posting it.

I have been in Fordson High School during the school day. The students don’t respect the school. Take a walk down the hallway between classes, see how the students treat each other. Be in the cafeteria during lunch when they don’t clean up their places.

Most important, the students and the administration have been allowed to do what ever they want. There is no discipline, there is no guidance and most of all, the community that supports Fordson High School allows it to continue……Just my insights

--by an Insider on 10/14/07   Lives: Dearborn

Mr Insider, Mrs Mustafa was just expressing her pride in Fordson and you go on about spell check. You condemn every student at Fordson. Where are you coming from? I don't teach nor have I been to Fordson, Dearborn or Edsel Ford. but my guess is that if you look for "bad" behavior at any school you will find it. But conversely if you look for good behavior you will also find it. No school or student body is perfect. My guess is you have an axe to grind with someone at Fordson . If so, limit your criticism to that person and not the whole school. I feel that you owe Mrs Mustafa an apology for your rudeness.

At the various high school events I have attended I did not see a difference in the general behavior of FHS students, DHS students, and EFHS students. Fordson students have NOT lost the respect of an entire community. They are NOT barbarians as NOTHING IS WORSE THAN WASTED TALENT (NIWTWT) would have you believe. We can go back and forth endlessly about who did what at which game. What is completely unacceptable is to label 2,400 students as wasted talent because of a football game. So NIWTWT, don't refer to my son and his friends as wasted talent. Mrs. Mustafa's comments are right on the mark. Yours aren't even in this hemisphere.

Does Maha have to be an English major to express her opinion? A few minor incidents were blown out of proportion because a few people have an agenda. When Dearborn High students acted crazy a few years ago at and stuck the DHS flag into the field nothing was said by the Fordson people. We did not blame everyone or even make a big deal about it. When the Fordson kids are called terrorist and camel jocks we teach them to look the other way. When they are told go clean up your dirty east end we tell them to ignore those people who say that stuff. There are problems on both sides and until people decide to try and build bridges we will not have any success. I was at the game until the end and most Dearborn high people were excellent. It is the few who could not handle the pride expressed by the Fordson faithfully that have the problem.

Maha, is a mother that attends all school functions, here at FHS. She has seen the wonderful things that are happening here at FHS. There are many problems at other schools . Our school is very fortunate to have her be so involved. Your attacks are cowardly, (and you ofcourse ) refuse to leave your names. This web site is a total mockery of FHS. Do you guys all feel good ? Fordson, teacher,

Shame on you all, SHAME ON YOU!

Were you at that game? If you had seen what we all saw and you can still say that there are more important problems at FHS, god blesses you!

In addition to that, I didn’t see you leave YOUR name, now did you? I guess you’re just as cowardly as the rest of us.

Dear Russ, I hope all of your readers realize that there are punks from all walks of life and from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Disrespectful behavior can not and will not be tolerated regardless of circumstances. Students who violate proper protocol need to be punished. If kids can't feel safe at school...we have all failed at a truly noble objective. Stop wasting time labeling or defending the very small number of violators and concentrate on a strict punishment for those who who have attempted to de-rail the positive efforts of the many. A crackdown of thug behavior is a priority.

The fact that there is this whole conversation about a "football game" makes me wonder if the problem truly is the behavior that students displayed after the game. I think this is more about Fordson as a whole and its reputation as being overly populated with Arabs from all over the Middle East rather than the actual game. It seems that any chance people get to trash Fordson and its wonderful reputation they blow something so small out of proportion. The first poster should be ashamed for beginning this whole subject up. Whether he did it because he is a DHS alumni or any other reason kids will be kids and will learn as they get older. There were well over 20 fans on Fordson's side who went to watch the game and have a good time. As for the other 20, they live and they learn...

Again, from Hesham Rizk comes the theory that the outrage against violence really isn't about the violence. No, in a twisted logic that has been stated before, Fordson apologists want to pretend that THEY are the victims. Yes, those mean West-enders don't really mind when they are ATTACKED, they just don't like you because you are of Arabic blood. The only ones bringing up race in this whole thread are those of Arab background, who won't admit they have a problem with violence. Violence is the problem, not where your parents were born.

Dear pot calling...You are a total disgrace of a human being, yes, I was at the game as a teacher and I worked the sidelines ...I saw nothing but I good game and kids acting like kids, I did not see any rioting or any thug behavior. You must really have a miserable life, that you can only see problems at FHS, how many parties will DHS kids throw this weekend, that will be attended by both schools , a hyprcrite and a racists glares from your keyboard....good luck with your life...

--by Shame on 10/16/07   Lives: Dearborn

Defenders of Fordson,
Or course, life must be grand when you spend 99% of it with blinders on. Its people who can see, identify and address horrible behavior when it occurs at SCHOOL EVENTS that needs to be dragged out to see the light of day, who make Dearborn a better place. Dr John Artis on TV said that the behavior of some Fordson players, students and fans was unacceptable. The apathy pours from your keyboard and it’s that apathy that has destroyed the once magnificent Fordson High School and its reputation and quality of instruction. Best of luck with your life with blinders on. I will say this much, you will be a much happier person than most when you are able to deflect every negative thing directed towards things that are important to you onto everything and everyone else. Problem is, nothing will be resolved and things will only get worse. The other issue is that there seems to be hundreds people with your approach of ignoring the facts and pulling the race card whenever anyone points out glaringly obvious problems at FHS. There are FAR more of us who will continue to beat the drum of accountability as opposed to sticking our heads into the sand.

--by Appalled on 10/17/07   Lives: Dearborn

To Appalled, PLease take an English course in writing. Where did you learn to write a paragraph (S). Your reply is full of run-on sentences, which does not make any sense. You need a subject and a predicate per sentence, then a comma, and then a period. I have heard that FHS has a good Adult Ed. program. Let's just hope you are not a teacher. FHS Teacher

--by Hello on 10/18/07   Lives: Dearborn

Dear Appaled
I guarntee you are one of the people with blinders on that will never see any good in anyone from the eastend. Your post says it all! I know for a fact that the accountability is very much slanted and always will be with a certain number of westsiders. You need to open your eyes to the problems of the city as whole. A lot of the conduct going on in your own backyard is worse than anything going on in East Dearborn.

SHAME
First of all, why don’t you learn how to read instead of personalizing everything you hear?
Could you point out one post on this web site that used the word "riot"? Other than your own, that is.
Apparently, you are unable to comprehend, like so many other FHS people who are in complete denial, that numerous accounts of attacks and disgusting behavior have been documented and verified. I am sure you simply can’t believe it, seeing as how you there and know everything every person was doing on the entire campus every minute.

After reading the posts from Fordson High supporters, who see no evil, or hear no evil about Fordson, the only word I can think of to describe their comments is SCIOLIST .

Kids are going to be kids. East side, west side, it really does not matter. What DOES matter is how they are handled. It seems fairly obvious that "something" happened at the game. To deny it is silly. Just as silly as labeling an entire student body because of the poor decisions of a few.
